Project Process – “50 Careers, 50 Journeys”

Each interview in the “50 Careers, 50 Journeys” project will be conducted in a way that is convenient and comfortable for the participant. Ideally, I will meet in person, preferably at their place of work so I can see their professional environment, but I am also happy to meet at any location they prefer. If meeting in person is not possible, I can conduct the interview over the phone or online.

Before the interview, participants will receive the full list of 50 questions so there are no surprises. This also allows them to prepare and think about their answers ahead of time. The interview is expected to take between 60–90 minutes, but I am happy to stay longer if they are willing to share more.

During the interview, I will make an audio recording so I can accurately capture their words. Afterward, I will convert the audio into a written transcript. I will then create a summary of the interview, which will be posted to my project website along with links to both the original audio file and the transcript so anyone can review the complete conversation.

Before anything is published, participants will have the opportunity to review the summary, transcript, and audio file. If they are not comfortable with any part of it, I will respect their wishes and keep it private for my own learning.

My goal is to learn as much as I can about each person’s career journey while making the experience positive, respectful, and enjoyable for them. I want each participant to feel valued, heard, and confident in how their story is shared.

Continuing the Journey

Because I am still exploring fields of study — and because there are many careers I may not even know exist — I rely on the generosity and insight of the people I interview to connect me with others who have unique careers or life experiences. These introductions help me expand the scope of my project and discover new professions I might not have considered otherwise. My hope is that each conversation will lead to the next, creating a chain of learning that opens doors to more perspectives, more stories, and a deeper understanding of the wide range of opportunities that might shape my own future.
