50 for 50 Career Exploration

For my senior high school project, I am interviewing 50 professionals from 50 different career fields. Each interview will follow the same set of 50 questions, designed to explore each person’s unique journey — from their upbringing and education to the choices, challenges, and opportunities that led them to their current career.

The main purpose of this project is to learn about a wide range of possible career paths so I can make a more informed decision about what major to choose when I go to college. By hearing real stories from professionals in different industries, I hope to better understand what each career is really like — the day-to-day work, the skills required, and the challenges and rewards.

I am also documenting the project so other students can benefit from these insights. My goal is to create a resource that shows how people arrive at their careers through many different paths, and how education, experiences, and personal choices shape those journeys. By comparing answers across all 50 interviews, I aim to identify patterns, lessons, and advice that can help students like me navigate their own futures.

Ultimately, this project is both a personal exploration of potential majors and a shared collection of guidance and inspiration for other students planning their next steps after high school.
